Step Family Mediation

     While it is still true that a little less than half of first marriages end in divorce, few people realize that nearly seventy percent of second marriages also dissolve.  This increase is largely due to step family life which is so difficult to manage.  Extraordinary demands are placed on all the family members.  Couples face all the same challenges that appeared in the first marriage but now must also find ways to combine two and sometimes three distinct family systems under one roof.  Loyalty issues and challenges to authority are tested daily.  Value systems clash.  
     To help manage these extraordinary challenges MNS offers specially designed mediation services.  Our office meets the needs around specific family life problems, but also teaches mediation skills to family members so they can learn to mediate their own ongoing problems.  We also offer our divorce mediation skills to help resolve old problems from the prior relationships which often continue to haunt the newly combined families.  Since most divorces are the product of the legal system in which an agreement has been forced upon one or both parties, bitterness often remains contaminating the fresh start everyone desires.  Our Post Decree Mediation helps transform old agreements into better working relationships.  Also, Pre and Post-Nuptial Agreements are very effective in helping the new couple plan for and achieve a more smooth transition.
