The persistent use of advocacy to resolve problems
results in a society bogged down with endless adversarial conflicting
interactions which do not lead to mutually satisfying solutions. Also, the
natural tendency of certain other persons to avoid direct conflict by
withdrawing results in the ultimate destruction of important interpersonal
relationships, "burn out", loss of morale, sabotage, and reduced
productivity. Our communities can no longer afford such a waste of human
resources. Therefore, we believe mediation is the efficient and effective
means to better manage our natural differences and lead us to a stronger, richer
community.
