   Ron Heilmann from Syracuse, New York and Mary Ann Massey from Williamsburg, Virginia have published a book,  "LOVEWORKS: Coming to  Terms with Intimacy and Equality".  This has been very well received in the Syracuse area  and is growing in popularity.  Ron and Mary Ann discuss the  unique stresses on intimate relationships brought about by the baby boomers establishing equality and intimacy as the dual center piece of modern intimate relationships.  The authors lead day long and week end retreats, seminars and workshops on this material.

Equality between men and women has opened a can of worms.
Equality between men and women has been the social movement of the century. It has had a profound impact on the lives of countless men and women in North America and in some ways around the world. While we Baby Boomers have seized upon this notion with vigor, we did not expect that establishing an intimate relationship between equals would come at a tremendous price. We did not realize we were not emotionally equipped for such an enterprize. We did not know we would have to "grow up" emotionally well beyond our predecessors. This small book details the forces involved in this noble endeavor. It also describes, the pitfalls, illusions and paradoxes involved in establishiing an intimate relationship based upon equality. What we can do about this situation comprizes the heart of the text. Mary Ann and Ron look forward to hearing from readers about whether the concepts in this book fit the experience of contemporary readers. Remember, concepts promoted here are only for those to whom Equality and Intimacy remain a core value. Nevertheless, the words we have jointly penned seem to present a point of view which is kinder to the male gender without offending female sensitivities.
